Miracle Foundation India, together with partner Voluntary Health Association of Tripura (VHAT) in Tripura, works to strengthen community-based protection systems and promote meaningful child participation. As part of this initiative, community-led engagements were conducted on May 19 and May 22, 2026 across Paschim Bamutia village in West Tripura district and Pravurampur Panchayat, Sepahijala District, reaching 60 community stakeholders including PRI members, local leaders, religious leaders, and community members. These engagements strengthened collective action to prevent child marriage, abuse, and trafficking by deepening understanding of their root causes, consequences, and the importance of education, health, and child well-being. Participants strengthened their understanding of legal safeguards, child protection mechanisms, risk identification, timely reporting, and community responsibility in ensuring safe environments for children. Inputs from Mr. Subal Das, Upa Pradhan, and Mr. Pritam Kar, Multipurpose Health Worker (MPW), further reinforced community ownership by highlighting the social and health impacts of child marriage.
Building on this engagement, Bal Panchayat formation and meetings were conducted on May 20, May 28, and May 29, 2026 at Kamalanagar Anganwadi Centre, Nehal Chandra Nagar, and Kalshimura Gram Panchayat, engaging 57 children aged 12–18 years. The sessions strengthened children’s leadership, participation, and application of child protection principles, enabling them to identify risks, respond to concerns, and access support when needed. Children took collective responsibility for peer support and safer community practices, including preventing child marriage, ensuring school attendance, and maintaining personal safety. They also demonstrated strengthened life skills and ownership in promoting safer and more responsible community environments.
Together, these engagements continue to strengthen community ownership and child participation, contributing to more responsive and child-centered protection systems at the grassroots level.
