Program Manager Anna Marr is currently in India, working alongside our India team and visiting several of our children’s homes. Anna, Sandhyaa, and Srividya traveled first to Anbarasi. These children are born actors and love to perform for a camera. Here are a few examples of the children playing it up for the camera:
What’s wonderful to visiting Americans is how much fun these children have playing, and how they can invent a toy out of any old, abandoned object, this time a flat tire.
Here’s a girl on a slide and a video of children just enjoying being silly in front of “Auntie’s” camera.
One of the important changes The Miracle Foundation begins in the homes is the formation of children’s committees. These groups organize around collective goals, participate in elections, and collaboratively develop action plans to achieve them. One group’s goal at Anbarasi is to grow a garden to supplement the children’s diet.
Of course, play is important, but so is literacy. Newspapers are popular items at Anbarasi. Here a girl finds a quiet spot to read.
