Prabhat Kumar is an independent Child Protection Specialist with over two decades of experience in advancing child rights and protection in India and across Asia. He has worked at national and international levels, supporting governments, UN agencies, and civil society to strengthen child protection systems and policies. Prabhat previously served as a Child Protection Specialist with UNICEF India, focusing on family strengthening, non-institutional care, child protection workforce development, and adolescent empowerment. Before UNICEF, he was the Regional Partner Safeguarding Advisor at Catholic Relief Services’ Asia Regional Office, where he supported organizations to establish strong safeguarding practices.

Earlier in his career, Prabhat worked with UNDP and Save the Children for nearly 18 years, leading teams and child-centred programs contributing to innovative models, policy advocacy, and large-scale initiatives to protect children in both humanitarian and development contexts.

He is widely recognized for his work in building safeguarding systems, influencing policy change, and developing professional capacity among child protection practitioners — approaches that have been adopted in India and other Asian countries.
