The Miracle Foundation is raising much-needed funds — via GlobalGiving’s Open Challenge 2009 — to help protect single, pregnant women and their newborns in Jharkhand, India. This is one of the most impoverished regions of India and, as a result, has one of the highest maternal/infant mortality rates of that country. Unwed pregnancy is still considered taboo in India; therefore, single mothers are generally ostracized by their families and often abandon their children. Our program ensures that these mothers receive proper medical care and a safe, emotionally secure environment in which to deliver a healthy baby.

The Miracle Foundation is currently ranked 2nd of 167 organization participating in Global Giving Open Challenge 2009. We believe that we have a good chance to be the top earner in both the financial and donor categories, which could bring in an additional $6,000 in bonus money to help the mothers and infants at our Simdega Home!

There are still 15 days left in the challenge and we would greatly appreciate your support. Please visit our GlobalGiving entry www.globalgiving.com/3734 before September 18 and give what you can. Also, please pass the word along to your friends and family and ask them to do the same. If we all pitch in a little, we can do a lot!
