Miracle Foundation India was pleased to co-organize the ‘National Children’s Consultation on Ending Violence Against Children’ on November 27-28, 2024, in New Delhi. This program, initiated by National Action and Coordination Group for Ending Violence Against Children, India (NACG-EVAC India), saw the collaboration of several other organizations, including International Labour Organization, Terre des Hommes Netherlands, Child in Need Institute and Childhood Enhancement through Training and Action (CHETNA).
Prior to this national event, children’s consultations were conducted across a total of 21 states, where children elected their representatives to present the issues identified in their respective communities and groups. Additionally, a nationwide questionnaire was shared to gather insights on the challenges faced by children related to violence. The consultation focused on six thematic areas, namely child marriage, child sexual abuse and exploitation, child labour, corporal punishment and violent discipline, child trafficking, and child participation. Children from across states gathered on this platform, offering diverse perspectives and solutions that made the event both impactful and meaningful. The purpose was to listen to the experiences of children from different backgrounds, identify their challenges, and explore effective actions to address those issues. This input is crucial in shaping policies and interventions that can better support children and ensure their rights and well-being.
A key highlight of this consultation was when children interacted with the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child and raised insightful questions. The parallel sessions for adults focused on topics like leveraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partnerships for social impact, and the need for family strengthening in India among others.
At Miracle Foundation India, we are proud to contribute to impactful dialogues that strengthen child rights and promote family-based care, ensuring every child grows up in a safe and loving family.
